WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy is a therapy that uses hypnosis in a therapeutic context to direct a person’s imagination in a way that helps them make changes to their feelings, thoughts, motivations and behaviors.

In a typical hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist and client will discuss the goals desired. The hypnotherapist will ask questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle, to decide on the best hypnotic approach for the individual.

Hypnotherapy is helpful for those seeking relief from a range of problems. Hypnosis is often used to help relieve anxiety, aid sleeping, help to address bedwetting, address attitudes to weight, and help clients stop smoking and bad habits. Hypnosis is excellent in helping clients overcome fears and phobias.  It can also help with minor skin conditions that are often made worse by stress. Hypnotherapy can be used to improve confidence, and overcome social phobias, and may also be used to enhance performance in sport, public speaking, presentation and exams.

Hypnotherapy can help people to cope with and manage the relief of pain and help alleviate the symptoms of illness.

Hypnotherapy has also been used with both adults and children to help manage the pain associated with irritable bowel. There is evidence to support its use in this condition for both adults and children and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Guidance (NICE) recommends the NHS should consider referring patients for hypnotherapy if their irritable bowel is persistent and has failed to respond to simple prescribed medicine.

Meet Sherree

"... Sherree Russell a leading authority in her field. Articles about her work have been published in several newspapers and national magazines. She has a distinguished record of achievement, and for many years has also specialised in working with both those old and young and also equestrian riders from novice to Olympic level."

I am a divorced mother with two children whose life, like most of us, has taken a lot of twists and turns. And whilst these have generated some wonderful opportunities, they have also brought some serious challenges and issues that I’ve had to face. This background has helped me to understand the issues my clients face, and the very real effect they can have on themselves and their families. It helps me work with my clients to produce real, fast and effective changes.
