Therapeutic hypnosis is an effective and safe complementary technique in surgery and the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.
This is the conclusion of a systematic review by Winfried Häuser and his co-authors in the latest issue of Deutsches Ärzteblatt International (Dtsch Arztebl Int 2016; 113: 289-96).
It emerged that hypnosis was superior to standard treatment in the reduction of emotional stress, pain, time needed for convalescence, and drug consumption associated with medical interventions.
Among patients with irritable bowel syndrome, symptoms were relieved more effectively by gut-directed hypnosis than by the treatments in the control groups.
In clinical practice hypnosis is already widely used as a complement to modern, safe methods of anaesthesia, particularly to minimize anxiety and stress in patients about to undergo surgery. Live or audio file-aided hypnosis can be offered.
I actually came to hypnosis and NLP to help people recover from chronic illness
It was as a result of an “AHA” moment when a friend of mine recovered from the M.E she had been suffering with for 37 years.
I decided to study to be a Trainer of the revolutionary three day program that had aided her recovery, a program called the “Lightning Process” which utilises the science of the mind/body healing connection (psycho-neuro immunology – PNI) and combines aspects of Hypnosis & NLP and life coaching.
I set up my practice in 2008 at my home in West Grinstead, after achieving the necessary qualifications of Advanced Diploma in Hypnosis, Master NLP and life coach certification.
In 2010 order to deepen my knowledge in this fast developing area of PNI - I undertook a Dip HE in Clinical Hypnosis and 2 years later graduated BSc (hons) 1st class in Clinical Hypnosis from St. Mary's University, Twickenham.

If you apply them you will feel much more calm less nervous and will be able to relax and have fun at competitions. This will automatically begin to increase your confidence.
1. Preparation, preparation & practice!
I know this is something you will probably have heard before, but it’s amazing how, the better prepared you are, the more relaxed you’ll feel.
When you have rehearsed and practiced until the test, or course of jumps becomes second nature, it will all begin to feel easy and familiar and you’ll feel so much happier and more confident.
You’ll be able to relax more and just enjoy the day.

A new study has found that just one session of hypnosis could significantly improve rider’s confidence, according to research conducted by Sherree Russell Ginger, a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Riding Instructor.
“Our findings showed that confidence can be increased by up to 51% with just one session of hypnosis,” said Sherree.
To date, there has been very little scientific research specifically into horse riding confidence, so the primary aims of this study were to examine the effects on riders, of a single hypnosis session, designed to increase sporting confidence.
21 female volunteers, aged from 20 to 62, from novice to professional riders, took part in this study.
Participants were randomly assigned to two groups. One group received a single session of group hypnosis. The other group were given an educational presentation about fear, anxiety and confidence.
Data was collected from questionnaires completed by the volunteers before, and 2 weeks after their interventions.
